NAUTSPLAINING
A NEW TERM FOR AN AGE-OLD PROBLEM
(to) nautsplain
PRONUNCIATION: nawt-spleyn │ / ˈnɔtspleɪn /
Neologism blending non-autistic and (to) explain.
I coined this term because I was sick of non-autistic people speaking for and over autistic people in autism-related matters.
VERB
[1] a non-autistic person commenting on or explaining something autism-related, usually to an autistic person. Often in a condescending, overconfident, inaccurate, or generalized manner.
[2] a non-autistic person speaking for or over autistic people on something autism-related.
As in: This non-autistic person just nautsplained my own autism to me.
